This BLUE-GREEN color will not destroy night vision!
BENEFITS
Uniform lighting of the instrument panel due to the illumination of the entire
strip's length
The EL light strips will not produce reflections or glare when mounted above the
panel
The thin lighting strip is very light weight
Almost impossible to shade your panel due to other factors or items that may move around
in the cabin.
ELECTROLUMINESCENT LIGHTING FACTS & QUESTIONS
What is it?
Well, it is the latest in lighting. The EL (Electroluminescent Lighting) strips are only ten thousandths of an inch thick! (0.010") The strips are
very flexible and light weight. The EL strips do not generate heat like
conventional lighting..

How are the light strips powered?
The light strips have to be driven by a small inverter that converts the aircraft
12Vdc into 120Vac. The frequency of this drive voltage is in the
Kilohertz range to maximize the EL light strip's brightness or efficiency.

charge. Please contact us)
Can you dim this type of light?
Yes! You can accomplish this in the same manner that you do for ordinary
panel lights. Just run the output of a dimmer pot into the inverter.
Can you order different lengths?
The light strips are supplied in various lengths. If you order a light
strip a little longer than you require, you can cut it to a shorter length.
This process is simple and can be done by using a pair of scissors. Simply snip off the
end opposite where the wires are attached. Placing a piece of clear tape
over the cut end ensures that the end will be insulated from the inverter power.
How do you mount the light strips?
You can use double sticky tape, or use RTV (silicon rubber). RTV will not
loose it's grip during the summer heat of the day. RTV is also easy to remove
later, if
you should desire.
What connections need to be made to the light strip?
There are two wires attached to the end of each strip. They are
approximately 8 to 12" long. Simply wire them into the inverter output.
Will Electroluminescent Lighting destroy night vision?
NO, . . The Blue-Green color is the same color spectrum that military aircraft
use. This type of lighting has also been employed in submarines as well.
Can I get the light strips in OTHER COLORS?
Yes! . . We offer RED and WHITE lighting as well.
Can I get WHITE lighting?
YES! There are many applications for white as well. Several
builders have wanted to put white and/or the blue-green lighting under the
canopy side channels, in the baggage compartment, and/or under the arm rests in
some aircraft. These areas are KEY for seeing maps and seeing into the baggage
compartments during flight. The advantages here, are being able to
illuminate maps & etc. with little to no shadows. This is due to the
rather long length of the light source.
Do I have to purchase an inverter separately?
NO, All kits include the +12V inverters. (+24V Inverters available for
a small additional charge. Please contact us)
